The Missouri voter registration deadline is October 7, 2026. Voters can register to vote online, in-person, or by mailing a completed application.
Eligibility
In order to register to vote in Missouri, you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Missouri, and at least 17 1/2 years old (18 by Election Day).
- College students can choose to vote in Missouri or their home state, but may only be registered and vote in one state.
- To vote in Missouri, residents must not be currently imprisoned, serving a sentence following a felony conviction, convicted of a crime related to voting, or declared incapacitated. More information about qualifications necessary to vote in Missouri can be found here.

Deadline
The deadline to register to vote in Missouri for the 2026 midterm election is October 7, 2026, which is 27 days before the election. Voter registration applications submitted by mail must be postmarked by October 7, 2026.

Vote-By-Mail Practices
In Missouri, you must have a reason to be eligible to vote by mail. Eligible reasons to apply for an absentee ballot can be found here. Click here to access Missouri’s absentee voting application.
- The deadline for your application for an absentee ballot for any election needs to be received on the second Wednesday prior to Election Day (October 23, 2024) by 5pm.
- Your mail-in absentee ballot must be received by the election authority by 5pm the day prior to Election Day (November 4, 2024).
- Voters requesting an absentee ballot by mail who have registered by mail and have not yet voted in person are required to submit a copy of their personal identification unless they provided a copy with their registration application.

Early Voting
Missouri does not offer early voting.
Election Day Practices
On Election Day, the polls are open 6am-7pm.
- At the polls, you must present a valid form of photo or non-photo ID. Acceptable forms of ID can be found here. If you do not have a form of photo ID or forget to bring one on Election Day, you can still cast a provisional ballot.
