The Texas voter registration deadline is October 6, 2025. Voters can register to vote in-person or by mailing a completed application.
Eligibility
In order to register to vote in Texas, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 17 years and 10 months old (must be 18 by Election Day to vote), a resident of the county where you submit the application, not serving a sentence for a felony conviction, and not declared mentally incapacitated by a court.

Deadline
The deadline to register to vote in Texas for the 2025 general election is October 6, 2025, which is 30 days before the election. Voter registration forms submitted by mail must be postmarked 30 days before Election Day.
Voter Registration Process
There are two methods of registering to vote in Texas: mailing in a completed voter registration form to your local County Voter Registrar or in-person at your County Voter Registrar’s office.

Vote-By-Mail Practices

- The deadline to request an absentee ballot is 11 days prior to Election Day (October 25, 2024).
- A completed ballot must be received by your County Election Official on Election Day before the polls close at 7pm. There is one drop box location available in each county where voters can hand-deliver their ballot by mail to the early voting clerk (ID is required and voters will be asked to sign a form).

- Early voting, also known as in-person absentee voting, will begin October 19, 2024, and will end on November 1, 2024.
