Delaware does not offer Election Day voter registration, requiring all voters to register by October 12, 2024. Voters can apply online, in-person, or by mailing in a completed application.
Eligibility
In order to register to vote, you must be a US Citizen, a Delaware resident, and at least 18 years old by Election Day.
- Convicted felons are allowed to vote if they have completed their sentence or were not convicted of a disqualifying felony. A list of disqualifying felonies can be found here.
- College students have a choice of whether they want to vote in Delaware or vote in their home state. You may only be registered and vote at one location.

The deadline for the November 5, 2024 election will be October 12, 2024.

Vote-By-Mail Practices
Anyone who is registered to vote in the state of Delaware may request a mail-in ballot without providing a reason. Click here to access Delaware’s absentee voting application.
- The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is 4 days before Election Day (November 1, 2024).
- All absentee ballots must be received by 8pm on Election Day in order to be counted.

Voters must present acceptable forms of non-photo or photo ID, such as a Delaware Driver’s License, a Delaware Identification Card, a U.S. Passport, a signed Polling Place card, a signed Social Security card, a signed vehicle registration, or a signed credit card with photo.
