The Georgia voter registration deadline is October 7, 2024. Voters can apply online or by mailing in a completed application.
Eligibility
In order to register to vote you must be a U.S. citizen, be a legal resident of a Georgia county, be at least 17 1/2 years of age (being 18 in order to vote), not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude, and not be found mentally incompetent by a judge.
- College students can obtain Georgia voter registration forms, or the necessary forms to register in any state in the U.S., from their school registrar’s office or from the office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs. College students have a choice of whether they want to vote in Georgia or vote in their home state. You may only be registered and vote at one location.

The deadline to register to vote in Georgia for the General Election is October 7, 2024.

There are two methods of voter registration in Georgia: online or mail in a printable application.

Vote-By-Mail Practices
Anyone who is registered to vote in the state of Georgia may request a mail-in ballot without providing a reason. Click here to access Georgia’s absentee voting application.
- Registered Georgia voters can request a mail-in ballot by submitting an absentee ballot application by email, by mail, by fax, or in person to their county’s Board of Registrar’s office.
- Voters can request absentee ballots for the 2024 General Election between 78 days before Election Day (August 19, 2024) and 11 days before Election Day (October 25, 2024).
- Absentee ballots must be received by the County Board of Registrars by 7 pm on Election Day.

In-Person Early Voting Practices
Georgia offers in-person early voting to all registered Georgia voters. Find information on in-person early voting here.
- Early in-person voting begins on the fourth Monday prior to Election Day (October 14, 2022) and ends on the Friday before Election Day (November 1, 2024). Early voting typically takes place between business hours, but times vary based on county. Find voting times in your county here.
