Eligibility

In order to register to vote you must be a U.S. citizen, be a legal resident of a Georgia county, be at least 17 1/2 years of age (being 18 in order to vote), not be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude, and not be found mentally incompetent by a judge.

  • College students can obtain Georgia voter registration forms, or the necessary forms to register in any state in the U.S., from their school registrar’s office or from the office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs. College students have a choice of whether they want to vote in Georgia or vote in their home state. You may only be registered and vote at one location.

The deadline to register to vote in Georgia for the General Election is October 7, 2024.

Vote-By-Mail Practices

All registered Georgia voters are eligible to vote by mail. Click here to access Georgia’s absentee voting application.

  • Absentee ballots will be issued up to the day before Election Day. To vote absentee by-mail, voters must request an absentee by-mail ballot is 11 days before Election Day (October 25, 2024).
  • Absentee ballots must be received by the County Board of Registrars by 7pm on Election Day

Early Voting

Georgia offers early voting.

  • Early voting begins on the fourth Monday prior to Election Day (October 14, 2022) and ends on the Friday immediately before Election Day (November 1, 2024). Voting times and locations for your county can be found here.

On Election Day, the polls are open 7am-7pm.
