Washington offers same-day voter registration, meaning that voters are able to register to vote in person at their polling place on Election Day on November 4, 2025. Voters can register to vote online or by mail by October 27, 2025.

Eligibility

In order to register to vote in Washington, you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old by Election Day, a resident of Washington State for at least 30 days, not disqualified from voting due to a court order, and not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction.

  • 16 and 17 year old Washington residents can sign up as a Future Voter and be automatically registered to vote when they turn 18.
  • College students have a choice of whether they want to vote in Washington or vote in their home state, but they may only be registered and vote at one location. Learn more about voting as a college student here.

Deadline

The deadline to register to vote in Washington for the 2025 general election is October 27, 2025, which is 8 days before the election. If voters are registering to vote by mail, their registration form must be received by this date. Washington offers same-day voter registration at voters’ polling locations on Election Day on November 4, 2025.

Vote-By-Mail Practices

Washington uses a vote-by-mail system. Therefore, if you are registered to vote in Washington, there is no need to request a ballot. Click here to access Washington’s Special Absentee Ballot Application Form.

Washington offers early voting.
